The henchmen available to players for completing PvE content seem to have been improved in usefulness, though they are still not as good as real players. However, the grouping system for finding human groups in Guild Wars is still not very good. All grouping is conducted via chat, with no list of what professions are available in a given area. I really wish there was a better way of hooking up with other people to do the missions. It can be very frustrating to spend five to fifteen minutes putting together a group only to fail two minutes in and then have to restart from the beginning as players leave. With all the varied builds and skills, communication and teamwork is a must, which is rare in a random group. Given the difficulty in recruiting a good group Guild Wars is best played with a known group of friends all committed to playing together through the missions and quests.

Other changes that have occurred from the original release of Prophecies through the release of Factions include getting rid of the restriction on how often a character can re-allot their attribute points. Skills are the different spells characters can use and attributes are what powers them. In the original release, players earned attribute reset points that they could spend when they wanted to change their focus. However, now players have no restrictions on how often they may reset their attributes, other than not being able to do it, or change skills, in the middle of a mission. The original restriction made very little sense and only served to frustrate players. Enemy AI has also been changed and improved. However, the anti-AOE AI that has been put in place severely hamstrings many AOE skills; monsters will flee the area temporarily if they are hit more than once in a second by an AOE spells. This includes both recurring damage AOE spells (firestorm), and casting multiple instant cast AOE spells back-to-back (phoenix, flame burst). The PvP unlocking of skills and usage of skills has been balanced and rebalanced several times since release and in constantly under scrutiny to ensure that players are winning through skill and planning rather than an unbalanced spell or some unique equipment.
